"Pick a Peck of Piedmont Pickers" is now available here at a special pre-release discount price of $9.98! Contributions from Andy Cohen, Gareth Hedges, Mike Higgins, Russ Mello, and Lauren Sheehan cover the spectrum of the liveliest form of Pre-war Blues. The offer has been extended until March 6, when it goes on sale to the general public at $14.98 (see concert series listings below). The seventh in our First-Sunday-of the-Month traditional music concert series at the Black Watch Pub in New Bedford, Mass., features
Beaucoup Blue on Feb. 6. Chuck Williams, one of our very favorite area singer/songwriters, will open.
David Mowry and his son Adrian have been performing their roots-based music nationally and internationally. Although blues is a staple in their repertoire, they include music from Folk, Soul, R&B, Jazz, Country and Bluegrass.
Among their many accolades: Grand Prize Winner of the Billboard World Song-Writing Contest;
No. 25 on AMA's Americana Top 40; No. 8 on Roots Music Report's Folk Top 50; Winner of the 2006 Telluride Blues & Brews Acoustic Competition.
Enjoy the show as a welcome alternative to the Superbowl (We'll have a couple of big screens on with picture only, just in case you have an interest!).
On March 6, join us in celebrating the release of "Pick a Peck of Piedmont Pickers."
A terrific buffet is included in the ticket price, along with entertainment by Russ Mello (and Ruckus "brother" Ron Arruda!), Mike Higgins, "Ragtime" Jack Radcliffe and a bunch of surprise guest artists. Prizes, give-aways, and more!
April's show will be a double-header, featuring the best of Celtic and bluegrass music. The Bristol Stompers will share the evening with Matt Heaton & Flynn Cohen.
Kim & Reggie Harris are coming in May. In June, it'll be the Rolling Roots Revue, with Sherman Lee & The Dillonaires, among others. Details on both those shows are online here and will be in next month's newsletter as well.
The Black Watch Pub is at 266 Dartmouth St., New Bedford. All concert series shows start at 6 p.m. and are appropriate for all ages. A come-all-ye and jam session follows every concert. There is a full menu for the concerts, and table seating can be reserved by purchasing tickets in advance. You can also call the Pub at 508-997-0023.
Our Bluegrass and Old-Timey jam continues to be popular. Come on down to the Pub any Wednesday at 6:30 p.m. and join us, or just stop in to listen and enjoy some good food, beer and company along with the music.
