Wepecket Whisperings
Published sporadically when there's news.      Volume 1, No. 2 April, 2010

New release:

Jim McGrath's latest CD, "Last of the Romantics," is now available online here. He is ably accompanied by the very versatile Jim Bennett on guitar, mandolin and banjo.

On the road again:

We're off! Wednesday, April 21 we'll be in Princeton, NJ; then off to Pittsburgh; Streetsboro, OH; South Haven, MI; Kalamazoo, MI and back East to New Haven, CT. After that we'll be in Taunton, MA; Dartmouth, MA, Portland,ME and finally back home to New Bedford. You can check out the entire schedule and make reservations for shows at http://www.wepecket.com/tickets.htm.

In the news:

With Rounder's recent acquisition by the Concord Group, just wanted to squelch any rumors that we're about to be bought out by Bad Boy Records, Sean "Puffy" Combs's Hip-Hop label. We like things the way they are right now.

Coming attractions:

Work has begun on "Pick a Peck of Piedmont Pickers," with selections from a wide range of modern masters of this delightful style of finger-picking. Among the contributors to this project are Andy Cohen, Mike Higgins, Russ Mello (photo, left), Rick Palieri & Gareth Hedges, and Lauren Sheehan (photo, right). We've already begun recording and look for a late summer, early fall release.

Sherman Lee Dillon will be back in the studio shortly to begin work on another blues record, and Dale Robin Goodman has started preliminary work on "Cuckoo," her next solo work.

We will shortly have a bunch of videos uploaded to our new YouTube Channel, http://www.youtube.com/user/wepecketislandrecords

Thanks for helping us keep the music alive!

Jack, and the gang at Wepecket Island.
